Cooling Systems

Did you know that overheating is the most common cause of mechanical breakdowns on Sydney roads? Your cooling system plays a fundamental part in your vehicle’s performance. Without it, your engine would overheat and some parts might even begin to melt, causing severe damage to the engine and automatic transmission. Maintaining your vehicle’s radiator, fluids and cooling system is essential to keeping your car on the road.

Reasons to check your Antifreeze/Coolant

  • Your vehicle has recently overheated
  • Your coolant or temperature light comes on
  • Your temperature gauge reads higher or lower than normal
  • Your heater does not work

Cooling Fan

A cooling fan circulates air through the radiator so that it can release engine heat into the surrounding air. The fans can be mechanical or electric, however if the cooling fan malfunctions, your engine can quickly overheat.
Our technicians will inspect your cooling fan and make sure the drive belt, or fan belt that makes it turn, is not loose or cracked. We also repair and replace damaged fans

Radiator Cap

A radiator cap should be inspected at least once a year. If a cap is taken off while the engine is still hot it could result in severe burns from the spray of boiling coolant.

Coolant Reservoir

The coolant reservoir indicates the level of coolant in the system. At KarPro we check this during every oil change or Log Book service.

Thermostat

The thermostat is a valve that regulates the flow of coolant based on coolant temperature. A poorly performing thermostat can result in overheating, engine knocking, poor fuel economy and more.
KarPro Tyre& Auto will check your thermostat during an inspection of your cooling system.
