Engine Diagnostics

An Engine Diagnostic (or Scope Test) determines what corrections are required during a tune-up to get your engine running smoothly again.

What's included?

Computer analysis of spark plugs, ignition wires, the distributor cap, rotor and coils, as well as the oxygen sensor and fuel injection system are all included in an engine analysis. Additionally, we also:

  • Check the vehicle's computer for fault codes
  • Visual check to confirm condition of the PCV valve and fuel filter
  • Check the engine timing (where applicable)
  • Examine the starting and charging system
  • Complete a detailed written Vehicle Inspection Report.

When to have this done

At your vehicles recommended spark plug service interval, as specified in the owner's manual, or when experiencing any of the following symptoms:

  • 'Check engine' or 'Service soon' warning light is illuminated
  • Engine is running rough
  • Poor fuel economy

Engine Diagnostic Test

Why this is important

If the 'Check Engine' light comes on while driving or remains on, it is a warning of an emissions or sensor problem and should be analysed. If the light flashes, the condition is more severe and must be checked immediately to prevent catalytic converter damage.

What's included?

  • Computer scan for codes
  • Assessment and research for correction
  • A detailed written Vehicle Inspection Report
